Overview
Hillsborough County unincorporated areas fall under the jurisdiction of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR). Fire watch is required whenever any fire protection system — sprinkler, alarm, suppression, or detection — is taken out of service. HCFR enforces the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC) and NFPA standards. Written patrol logs are mandatory, with a maximum interval of 60 minutes between patrols. All fire watch personnel must be trained and posted for the full duration of the impairment. Contractors must notify HCFR prior to planned impairments where possible.
