Overview
The City of Miami enforces fire watch requirements through Miami Fire Rescue (MFR) and the Office of the Fire Marshal. Any impairment to a required fire protection system — whether planned or unplanned — requires immediate implementation of fire watch. Patrols must be conducted no less than once per hour, with documentation maintained on a written log retained for inspection. Miami adopts the Florida Fire Prevention Code and enforces NFPA 1, NFPA 25, and NFPA 72 as locally amended. High-rise buildings and assembly occupancies have additional requirements; consult the AHJ directly for those classifications.
