Use this free log sheet to document fire watch patrols. Pair clear records with task-specific training, such as the Fire Watch Academy Level 1 Fire Watch Specialist program, and confirm your local requirements.
Open the free fire watch log sheet to begin. The form supports saving progress during a shift and producing a completed PDF. A guide or form does not set the patrol interval or authorize a watch; those instructions come from the responsible fire authority and the site’s approved arrangements.
What to record
- The property address, deployment date, reason for the watch, and relevant shift information.
- The time of each patrol and whether the inspected area was clear.
- Conditions observed, actions taken, and the initials identifying the person making the entry.
- Relevant attachments and handoff information that help the responsible party understand the record.
Record observations accurately. Do not backfill an unperformed patrol or treat a blank entry as an all-clear. Ask the AHJ whether it requires its own form, extra fields, a particular retention period, or on-site access to the records.
Save, finish, and share the existing form
- During the shift: Add the site details and patrol entries. Use Save Progress to save a draft. Keep the same browser and its stored data available for resuming the log.
- When the record is complete: Review the entries and use Finalize Shift Log. Resolve any validation messages before finalizing.
- To email the record: Enter the recipient in Email PDF to on the confirmation panel and choose Email PDF. Check the confirmation or error message.
- To download or print: After finalization, open More actions and choose Download PDF or Print Paper Copy.
Saving a log does not end a fire watch. Confirm the conditions for ending the watch separately with the responsible authority.
Understand what the log establishes
The form records submitted information. A completed PDF alone does not independently prove every patrol occurred, establish a person’s qualifications, or guarantee an inspection outcome. Keep supporting instructions and relevant communications with the record.
